Description
The Kusnacht Brigandine is one of the most famous examples of 14th-century European armor, named after the original piece found in a Swiss castle near Küsnacht. Unlike earlier mail armor, brigandines gave knights and soldiers strong but flexible protection, which made them very popular in Bavaria, Switzerland, and across Europe.
Our version stays true to this history. It is made with 18-gauge steel plates riveted inside a shell of genuine suede leather, closely matching the way the originals were built. The hidden steel plates under the black suede give excellent defense, while the rows of rivets create an impressive Gothic look.
Weighing about 6.72 kg, this brigandine offers the right mix of strength, comfort, and movement, making it perfect for tournaments, SCA combat, jousting, and historical reenactments. The adjustable leather side straps make it easy to fit securely for different body sizes.
This brigandine is not only strong armor but also a symbol of the status and honor once carried by knights and professional soldiers of the 14th century.
