Description
Stand ready for battle with our Late Medieval Gothic Cuirass Breastplate, a faithful recreation of the armor worn by soldiers and mercenaries in the 15th century. Unlike the full suits of plate reserved for the wealthiest knights, this cuirass Breastplate offered a practical balance of protection and mobility. It was favored by one’s who needed to stay fast on their feet while shielded from the strikes of swords, polearms, and arrows.
Crafted from 16 gauge mild steel, this breastplate provides excellent durability while keeping weight to a manageable 4 kg. Its Gothic-inspired design has strong lines and a slightly fluted form that both reinforces the steel and creates a commanding look on the field. The inside is polished smooth to help resist corrosion, while crossed leather straps and buckles at the back allow for a secure and adjustable fit.
Whether worn alone over a padded gambeson or paired with backplates, pauldrons, and tassets for a full Gothic harness, this cuirass breastplate is both functional armor and an impressive display piece. Perfect for reenactments, SCA combat, LARP, and medieval collections.
