Our chausses are “as light as a feather, and as hard as dragon scales”. Tolkien dreamed it the 21st Century did it! These ultra-light chausses/hoses are directly inspired by the type of protection worn by the knights and some sergeants in the 12th and 13th centuries. They appear for the first time on William ‘the conquerer’ in the Bayeux Tapestry in 1066. By that time it was a luxury and that’s not a hazard if only Duke William himself is wearing those chainmail hoses and so many of the other Norman knights were not. By the opening of the 12 and 13 centuries, it was becoming the standard equipment of a medieval knight perfectly completing the long sleeves knee length hauberk making the knight almost invulnerable.
Our mail chausses are HANDMADE from dome riveted, 17 gauge TITANIUM FLAT RINGS with a diameter of approx. 9 mm each. All titanium chausses are also definitely one of the best-sellers with MOVIE PROP COMPANIES, THEATRES, AND ALL KINDS OF COSTUME DESIGNERS BECAUSE OF THEIR AMAZING LIGHTWEIGHT, EXTREMELY REALISTIC VISUAL APPEARANCE that not only appeals to a large audience on screen but also avoids tearing up the actor wearing them during the filming or their performances.
