Description
Late Medieval Crescent-Shaped Brass Fittings
This Brass Crescent moon decoration is inspired by European decorative fittings from the 14th to 15th centuries. Its half-moon shape has a curved body with raised decorative bosses along the inner edge and designed terminals at both ends.
Sold as a matching pair, these mounts add period-inspired metal detailing to leatherwork.
Solid Brass
Each mount is made from solid brass, therefore it is durable and has a warm look and does not rust.
With time and use, the surface may naturally develop a patina. This gradual change gives the brass an aged, old-world look and adds individual character to the piece.
Inspired by Late Medieval Leather Fittings
During the late Middle Ages, clothing did not have modern pockets as we know them today. Personal belongings and everyday necessities were carried in pouches suspended from a belt or girdle.
Kidney-shaped pouches were one recognizable form of medieval bag. Decorative curved metal fittings could be riveted onto the rounded leather flap, for visual detail.
This brass Moon decoration draws inspiration from this style of late-medieval decorative leather fitting.
Made for Leather Bags, Pouches & Belts
Use each Leather belt mount to add decorative brass detailing to a handmade or any medieval bag. The curved shape also works especially well on rounded leather surfaces and pouch flaps.
Rivets Included for Easy Attachment
Each leather bag mount comes with rivets for attaching it to suitable leather.
Position the mounts on the leather and mark the required fixing points. Prepare the holes carefully, pass the rivets through the mount and leather, and secure them from the back side.
Always check the thickness of your leather and the rivet fit before fixing the mounts.
Care & Maintenance
- Wipe the brass with a soft, dry cloth after use.
- Keep the fittings dry when storing your leather accessories.
- Brass does not rust but will naturally develop a patina over time.
Note: Small variations in surface texture, dimensions and brass tone may occur between individual pieces. The brass may also change in appearance with use and age as its natural patina develops.
