Description

15th Century Cuirass

This handcrafted 15th Century Cuirass, is inspired by breastplate designs used throughout the 15th century. Made from 18 gauge mild steel, the armor has a polished outer, while the interior is finished with a protective dark coating to help resist rust and corrosion.

The cuirass includes articulated tassets and a central groin guard, creating a complete upper-body defense. Whether worn for LARP, cosplay, Renaissance fairs, festivals, theatrical use or display, this armor has both protection and craftsmanship.

This Steel cuirass with tassets is comfortable for extended wear during events and performances. Heavy-duty genuine leather shoulder and side straps secure the armor properly to the body. Multiple adjustment holes and steel buckles allow the fit to be customized for different body sizes, helping keep the cuirass stable while in use.

Historical Inspiration & Added Protection

This 15th Century Cuirass takes inspiration from late medieval European plate armor of the 15th century. The breastplate has a horizontal ridge across the midsection, helping strengthen the torso while giving the armor its distinctive late-medieval look.

The articulated tassets are the most important features of this design. These long thigh guards extend protection below the breastplate, covering the vulnerable upper thighs. By shielding this area, the tassets reduce exposure to incoming strikes while allowing the wearer to walk, bend, and move naturally.

The central groin guard, called a codpiece or brayette, gives extra protection to another exposed area. It arrives with a layer of oil on it, to prevent rusting during shipping and storage.

Designed for LARP, Cosplay & Display

The plate armor cuirass is designed for enthusiasts who seek a medieval look without sacrificing comfort. It serves as an excellent centerpiece for costumes, fantasy characters, theatrical use, Renaissance fairs, medieval festivals, cosplay, photo shoots, displays, and LARP adventures.

Care Instructions

  • Wipe clean with a soft dry cloth after use.
  • Apply a light coat of oil to protect the steel surface.
  • Keep dry and avoid exposure to moisture.
  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Condition the leather straps occasionally to maintain flexibility.

Note: As each armor piece is individually handcrafted, then variations in finish, polish, and shaping are part of its look.
