Italian Churburg Globose Breastplate 16 gauge

118.99$

This beautiful 14th-century cuirass is inspired directly by an original Italian armor from the Churburg collection (number CHS14) dated circa.1390. It was popular among knights and mercenaries because of its versatility and a perfect balance between protection and mobility. Just pair it with one of our gambeson & chainmail shirts (sold separately), and you will get an amazing combination for your next LARP or reenactment! By the 14th century, medieval armourers could construct large pieces of steel that they would then shape into the different parts of the recently invented plate armour. Such sturdy one-piece breastplates proved sturdier than the old coat of plates that the former was slowly replacing, thanks to their carefully designed shapes on which most attacks glanced off the uncovered steel.

This piece of armour is HANDCRAFTED from tough 16-gauge mild steel and is highly adjustable thanks to its multiple genuine leather straps. It is available in three sizes: medium (chest 94-104cm), large (chest 105-115cm) and extra-large (chest 116-126cm) (Measure yourself WITH gambeson). Note: Most people ignore that a second similar original cuirass still exists. Made by the same medieval Italian armourer, it was also dated circa 1390 and belonged to the ex R. T. Guynn collection.
