Medieval Hounskull Pigface Bascinet
Our hounskull/pigface bascinet is historically inspired by its 14th-century counterpart. During the 100 Years’ War, the original’s pointed shape deflected the arrows, crossbow bolts, the big cavalry lance strikes shot directly, aiming the face. It was because of this deflecting nature the original had holes only on one side, and some on the other for ventilation.
This helmet is hanadme from 16 gauge MILD STEEL with PURE BRASS FITTINGS on the borders. The solid brass vervelles attached also make it easy for you to attach your aventail. The visor is pivoted to the side and has a detachable pin to remove the visor when not in combat. The thick padding inside acts as a great shock absorber and makes it comfortable for the wearer to don it for hours. Thanks to the real, quilted padding and robust canvas. A large circumference of approximately 68 cm makes it fit almost all head sizes. Its historically inspired shape makes it ideal for LARP, reenactments and even décor.
