Description
Inspired by original historical finds from the Jacobean and Stuart periods, this handcrafted Brass belt buckle set recreates the elegant double-loop spectacle buckles commonly used across England and Scotland between approximately 1600 and 1720.
With the iconic rectangular frame with pointed ends and floral decoration, these buckles show the beautiful craftsmanship and fashion of late Renaissance and Restoration era clothing.
Buckles of this style were widely used on belts, shoes, baldrics, straps, and fine garments throughout the Stuart era. Archaeological discoveries and surviving museum examples show similar floral-framed buckles being used by civilians, soldiers, nobles, merchants, and travelers. Their shape and decorative detailing made them practical as well as status symbols in period dress. Today, these historically inspired replicas are prized by reenactors, collectors, historical tailors, leatherworkers, and costume makers who wish for authentic period hardware.
Each Brass buckle in this set is crafted from solid brass and with an antiqued finish that gives off the look of aged historical metalwork. Brass has long been valued for its durability, warm golden tone, and resistance to rust. It does not corrode with rust over time. Instead, it naturally develops a rich patina with age and use , giving the buckle a deeper, more authentic appearance and enhancing its old-world charm.
Offered as a set of three, these medieval belt buckles are especially useful for hobbyists, DIY creators, historical reenactors, leathercrafters, and collectors.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after use.
