Description
These Butted chainmail rings are made from durable mild steel and supplied loose in a 1 kg pack, for armor repairs, crafting, and DIY medieval projects. Each ring has 10 mm internal diameter in 16 gauge.
Historically, butted mail was widely used for lighter armor and decorative use, especially where speed of construction mattered. Today, these rings are popular among armorers, LARP participants, and hobbyists because they are easy to work with and have an authentic medieval look.
This pack is suitable for creating or repairing hauberks, coifs, aventails, skirts, and other mail garments. The simple butted construction allows quick linking without the added tools or time required for riveting, making these rings perfect for costume-grade and lightweight mail.
These rings are present in two finishes, so that you can choose based on your needs:
Zinc-Plated (ZP) rings have a bright metallic look with resistance to rust. This finish requires no oiling and is ideal for humid environments or long-term storage.
Black Polish rings have a darker, antique appearance for historically inspired armor. This finish may require occasional oiling to maintain color and prevent oxidation.
Each ring is handcrafted to maintain consistent size and shape, for smooth weaving and compatibility with other rings for chainmail projects. Whether you are building new armor or repairing existing pieces, these steel chainmail rings provide reliability and ease of use.
