Description
This Medieval Chainmail Half Hauberk captures the form and function of protective mail armor used throughout Europe from the 12th to 15th centuries. Designed to protect the upper torso, this hauberk provides an optimal balance between defense and freedom of movement.
Expertly assembled using a mix of flat and dome riveted 9mm rings, this pattern reinforces the structure while preserving flexibility—a significant upgrade from basic butted mail. Each ring is riveted, reducing the risk of failure under pressure or impact. The short-sleeved, cropped design allows this hauberk to be worn comfortably over a gambeson or beneath a breastplate without the excess bulk of a full hauberk.
Crafted from 17 gauge mild steel, it offers the authentic weight and drape of historical mail, while the lightly oiled finish protects against rust and enhances the raw steel aesthetic.
Whether worn in SCA combat, for theatrical stage work, or displayed as part of a collection, this hauberk delivers reliable craftsmanship and period accuracy.
