Description
This chainmail half shirt is made using 9 mm round riveted rings, alternated with solid flat rings for extra strength and flexibility — a historically accurate method used in medieval armor. Crafted from 18-gauge mild steel, the rings are linked in the traditional European 4-in-1 weave, giving both durability and easy movement while worn.
The blackened finish helps protect the steel from rust and adds a bold, dark appearance, ideal for film, stage, and LARP where a low-shine surface looks more realistic under lighting.
Designed to be worn over a padded gambeson or arming jacket, this half shirt covers the torso, shoulders, and arms, offering solid protection while being lighter and easier to wear than a full hauberk.
The alternating riveted and solid ring construction follows authentic medieval techniques, reducing strain on the rivets while keeping the mail strong and reliable during reenactments or performances.
