Description
This riveted chainmail haubergeon is crafted from 9 mm 17 gauge flat mild steel rings, wedge riveted for strength and alternated with solid flat rings for structure. The half-sleeve design makes it lighter and more breathable than a full hauberk.
Its natural oiled finish helps reduce rust and gives a genuine medieval look. This Chainmail Haubergeon style was favored by soldiers and mercenaries in the 12th-14th centuries, who needed both protection and mobility in battle.
Advantages:
-
Stronger hold : The wedge shape locks rings more securely than round rivets.
-
Historical accuracy : Most medieval European mail used wedge rivets, making it authentic for use and collections.
-
Durability under stress : Wedge rivets resist pulling apart during combat or movement.
-
Flatter profile : Sits more smoothly against padding, so better comfort.
-
Better weight distribution : Prevents rings from loosening, keeping the weave tighter for longer life.
Always wear the Chainmail Haubergeon over a padded gambeson for comfort and added protection.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

Note: Our chainmail armor is meticulously handcrafted, link by link, from thousands of interlinked rings, for exceptional historical accuracy, strength, and the unmistakable artistry of traditional techniques.
Because each Chainmail Haubergeon is assembled by hand using authentic methods, you may occasionally notice a rivet that sits slightly proud or feels subtly looser than others, or even a missing ring. These minor variations are a natural hallmark of genuine, artisan-made mail, just as they were in the Middle Ages and show the care invested in every garment. Should adjustment ever be needed, it can be easily done using basic pliers and a spare ring.
