Description
This chainmail haubergeon (half-sleeve shirt) is made from 8mm internal diameter riveted round rings, hand-assembled in the European 4-in-1 weave for durability and historical accuracy. Constructed from 18-gauge mild steel, each link is round-riveted/ dome-riveted to ensure long-lasting strength while still offering the flexibility required for movement in combat or reenactment.
The natural oiled finish protects the mail against rust while preserving its authentic medieval appearance. With half-length sleeves, this haubergeon provides excellent coverage of the torso and upper arms while remaining lighter and easier to wear than a full hauberk. It is best worn over an arming gambeson for comfort and layered protection.
The haubergeon, a shorter version of the hauberk, gained popularity during the 12th and 13th centuries, providing warriors with a balance of protection and mobility. Its shorter length and sleeves made it perfect for prolonged campaigns, for ease of movement without compromising defense.
The 4-in-1 riveted weave was an essential element of European mail armor, offering resilience against slashing and piercing blows while remaining flexible enough for battlefield acts.
