Description
The Spanish Comb Morion 16-Gauge Steel Helmet is a well-known icon of the Age of Exploration and the late Renaissance battlefields in Europe. The Comb Morion, invented in the mid-16th century, was famously worn by Spanish conquistadors, pikemen, and guards, and its impact expanded throughout Europe throughout the reign of Spain’s global empire.
This includes every feature, from the elevated central comb, which gave strength and flair, to the wide brim, which protected the face from strikes and the bright sun. Forged from 16-gauge steel and weighing around 3 kg, it provides the same rugged protection that made it a staple for warriors on the battlefield.
The helmet is adorned with a genuine natural hair red feather plume, which gives it the authoritative presence of a captain or palace guard. Inside, a leather liner and adjustable chin strap offer a secure and comfortable fit for heads up to 68 cm.
This piece, whether displayed as a historical centrepiece or worn for living history and period dress, symbolises the Renaissance’s martial elegance.
