Description
This Viking Horn Tankard is handcrafted from ethically sourced natural ox horn and shaped into a drinking vessel. Each tankard is polished smooth and finished by hand, for a comfortable grip and a solid feel. Because horn is a natural material, every piece has its own color tones formed by nature itself.
Horn drinking vessels were widely used during the Viking Age because horn was easy to shape, strong, and did not affect the taste of drinks. Horn mugs and tankards were common for mead, ale, and toasts.
The front of the tankard is engraved with the Vegvisir, an Icelandic symbol believed to guide its bearer through difficult journeys. Twin Viking dragons are engraved with it, for strength and protection.
The interior of the viking tankard is sealed and polished for safe use for cold and room-temperature drinks with a capacity of 500-600 ml. This drinking horn tankard works well for mead, ale, cider, or water. It can also be used as a horn drinking tankard for Viking feasts, LARP events, Renaissance fairs or display.
Hot liquids should not be used. Heat can damage the natural horn of the drinking tankard, causing warping or cracking and weakening the inner seal over time.
