Description
This shield buckler is a compact round shield made from 16 gauge mild steel and inspired by historical fluted bucklers which were used in medieval Europe. It has a domed boss with radial fluting, which helps in making the buckler itself stronger and helps in deflecting blows away from the hand. The shield has two versions, black powder-coated or polished finish and is fitted with a wooden handle on the back for a secure grip.
The Buckler shield was widely used from the 12th to 16th centuries by soldiers and for fencing purposes. Because it has a small size, it is suitable for close-quarters combat, especially when paired with swords, rapiers or daggers. The major reason why bucklers were made was because they were used for fast defense and hand control instead of full coverage.
The compact size of this Small shield buckler helps in fast movement, quick reaction time, and great control during sparring. It is easy to carry, does not tire your arm quickly and is great for small spaces. This made it a popular medieval shield for foot soldiers, duelists, and fighters.
Since it is made from 16-gauge steel, this shield buckler gives you protection with a manageable weight. The thickness gives reliable resistance as is even light enough for long use.The round shape and fluting of this round buckler shield give it more strength, therefore it is suitable for close combat, training, LARP and stage use and in some cases even for display.
