Description
Crafted like northern drinking vessels, this guksi cup is a finely handmade piece carved from strong and durable acacia hardwood. Known for its toughness and beautiful grain pattern, acacia makes this Wooden cup quite hard-wearing, long-lasting and perfectly suited for daily use at camps and feasts.
The guksi, also known as a kuksa cup, comes from the ancient Nordic and Sámi cultures, where it was a personal drinking vessel carried on the belt during travels and hunts. Much like classic Medieval cups, it was known for its practicality, natural wood and the fact that it could be used to sip anything, from warm stews to fresh spring water, without altering the taste.
The cup is made from natural, unpolished finish so the wood remains food-safe and does not affect the flavor of your beverages. Its smooth interior is shaped from a single acacia wood, for strength and a seamless contour.
Acacia wood has many benefits:
- Naturally dense and impact-resistant
- Resists moisture better than many other hardwoods
- Shows beautiful, warm grain patterns
Genuine Leather Hanging Cord: A sturdy, genuine leather cord is threaded through the rear hole, so that the cup hangs securely from a belt, backpack, or kitchen hook. This shows how travellers historically carried their handmade kuksa on journeys.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
- Hand-wash only, avoid soaking in water for long hours.
- Dry completely after each use to preserve the wood.
- Occasionally apply a light coat of food-safe oil for longevity.
NOTE : Every guksi is individually crafted by hand so slight variations in colour, grain pattern are natural.
