Description
Polished Blank Medieval Heater Shield Customizable Heraldic
This Heater shield is inspired by the medieval shields which were widely used by knights from the 12th century onwards. It has a distinctive shape which was tapered and had evolved from earlier kite designs and became quite useful as a knights shield due to its mix of protection, use as well as the surface for heraldic display.
Made from 18-gauge steel, this shield gives a strong and reliable foundation with manageable weight. The polished blank surface is left that way so that the user can customize it according to personal heraldry, coats of arms, paintwork, or engraving. This makes it great for collectors and decorators who wish for a personalized medieval shield. The strength of 18-gauge steel helps in creative modification without compromising the structure, a key advantage over thinner materials.
Designed for right-handed use, the reverse side has a genuine leather strap with an adjustable buckle system for secure use. A reinforced metal handle with a wooden core gives a firm, comfortable grip and improved control when holding or displaying the shield.
Historically, the Heater shield replaced the larger kite shield as armor evolved and foot combat became more common. Its shape gave more freedom of movement while still giving reliable coverage. Today, this design remains one of the most recognizable forms of the medieval shield, known for both historical significance and visual impact.
This shield functions excellently as a decorative Heat shield for walls, halls, armories, or themed interiors, as well as a centerpiece for historical displays, cosplay, or stage use. Please note that this item is intended for decorative and display purposes only and is not suitable for combat use.
