Description
Medieval Steel Infantry Kettle Hat – War Hat with Leather Liner: This 18 gauge steel kettle hat helmet is a reproduction of one of the most practical and used helmets of medieval Europe. Famous for its broad and sloping brim, this helmet was shaped to protect soldiers from arrows, stones and downward blows.
The kettle hat helmet first came in the early 12th century and reached peak use during the 14th and 15th centuries. Its open-face design gave great visibility and air flow and the brim protected the soldiers from rain and sunlight. Because of this protection and comfort, it became a standard helmet for foot soldiers in medieval Europe.
Also called the Medieval kettle hat, this style is also known historically as the medieval kettle helmet or chapel de fer. It was liked for its simple design and high effectiveness, and it is one of the most recognizable styles of medieval helmets. The helmet’s shape also made it suitable as a practical war hat for use in active conditions.
Inside, the helmet has a leather liner that cushions the head and helps distribute weight evenly. A leather chin strap with buckle gives a secure fit.
This helmet is well suited for historical themes, LARP, theatrical use, or display.
