Description
These Medieval Turnshoes, handcrafted from genuine leather, were quite famous in the Middle Ages. These ankle-high shoes, with their side-laced closure, are based on archaeological finds. Hence they are great for enthusiasts who love history. Often termed as leather turnshoes, these shoes are durable and comfortable.
Worn in Europe from the 9th to 15th century, turnshoes were the standard footwear for both men and women, from peasants to merchants. Their simple design makes them lightweight and extremely comfortable for long days at markets and fairs. Similar styles are also known as viking turnshoes and scandinavian turnshoes in Northern Europe.
Each pair is hand-stitched and made with genuine leather. Whether you’re preparing for a Viking festival, Renaissance fair, or your LARP event, these medieval shoes will give your outfit a period correct look.
Bring history to life with footwear that has a mix of authentic design with practical wearability.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
While these Medieval Turnshoes have authentic historical design, they are not designed for modern surfaces like gravel or concrete. The soles were never meant for such terrain in the Middle Ages. For longevity and comfort, we recommend:
- Cleaning: Wipe gently with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt. Do not soak. Avoid harsh chemicals or modern shoe polishes.
- Conditioning: Regularly apply natural leather balm or conditioner to prevent the leather from cracking.
- Drying: If wet let it air dry. Do not place near a heater, in direct sunlight, or use a hairdryer, this may cause warping.
- Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place. Stuff with clean cloth or paper to retain shape.
Sizing Note: Our medieval footwear follows men’s sizing. Since these boots are unisex, women are advised to use a men’s-to-women’s size conversion chart to find their best fit.
