Description
The Bascinet Helmet with Klappvisier represents one of the defining evolutions in medieval head protection, widely used across Europe during the Hundred Years’ War and into the early 15th century. Its pointed skull cap was made to deflect blows, while the hinged Klappvisier visor provided full-face defense with the convenience of lifting or removing it when not in combat.
This reproduction stays true to historical forms, crafted in mild steel and in two gauges. The 14G version provides heavy-duty resilience ideal for full-contact reenactments and combat, while the 16G version offers a lighter alternative better suited for LARP, costuming, and display. The visor has ventilation holes for airflow and a historically correct locking hinge mechanism.
Inside, the bascinet helmet comes fitted with a stitched liner and leather chin strap, for comfort and a secure fit even during extended wear. With its balance of protection, functionality, and design, the bascinet helmet remains a staple piece for knights, men-at-arms, and medieval enthusiasts.
