Description
Lobster Tail Pot Helmet – 17th Century : This is inspired by the 17th-century zischägge helms worn by cavalry and infantry during the Thirty Years’ War. Famous for its segmented neck guard and hinged cheek plates, the lobster tail helmet gave protection with visibility and mobility.
Authentic 17th Century Design & Materials: Handcrafted from 16 gauge mild steel, the helmet is durable and comfortable . Its antique finish, with subtle hammer marks, gives a realistic, battle-forged look like a 17th century helmet. The segmented “lobster-tail” neck guard provides flexible protection at the back, while the hinged cheek plates safeguard the sides of the face without restricting breathing or vision.
Interior Comfort, Fit & Functionality: Inside, this is a padded liner for comfort and stability. This helps distribute weight, making the helmet suitable for long hours of use. A leather chin strap with buckle gives a secure fit, like the historic cavalry pot helmet designs. The helmet arrives ready to wear.
The Cavalry Zischägge: The zischägge, became widely used by European cavalry from the mid-1600s onward. Its neck guard and facial protection were famous for defense and mobility.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
- Wipe the helmet dry after each use to remove moisture
- Lightly oil the steel surfaces to prevent rust formation
- Store in a dry place, avoid humidity
- Brush dirt gently and avoid abrasive cleaners on the liner
Note: Each lobster tail pot helmet is handcrafted, minor variations in finish and liner are natural.
