Description
Knightly Medieval Pauldrons
Complete your knightly armor with these Knightly Medieval Pauldrons, made from durable 18 gauge mild steel with a polished mirror-like finish. The back side has a protective blackened coating that helps reduce rust and corrosion. With genuine leather straps and steel buckles, the pauldrons provide a secure, adjustable fit for comfortable wear.
Blade Breaker Design
These pauldrons have multiple articulated shoulder lames for natural arm movement while maintaining excellent coverage. The genuine leather straps include multiple adjustment holes and durable steel buckles to ensure a secure fit.
A defining feature of these pauldrons is the large raised blade breakers (haute-pieces). Inspired by high neck and shoulder defenses of late 15th and 16th-century European plate armor, these flared guards were used to help deflect sword and axe blows away from the neck and shoulder area.
Historical Inspiration
Shoulder armor evolved throughout the Late Middle Ages as full plate armor became more interesting. Large Gothic shoulder armor gave better protection to one of the most exposed parts of a knight’s body with freedom of movement.

Care Instructions
- Wipe clean with a soft dry cloth after use.
- Apply a light coat of oil occasionally to the polished steel.
- Condition the leather straps to maintain flexibility.
- Store in a cool, dry place to preserve the finish.
Note: Because our armor is handcrafted, minor variations in the steel’s finish and the leather’s color are natural and expected. These subtle differences ensure that no two pieces are identical.
