Description
Hand-Forged 16 Gauge Steel Circular Shield with Brass Rivets: This Rodela shield is a recreation of historical Southern European defenses. Made from durable 16-gauge steel with polished front and blackened back, it is resilient, visually appealing, and historically authentic. The shield has a twisted steel edge for strength and medieval aesthetic, along with brass accents like craftsmanship found in Spanish and Italian designs.
This round shield is light enough for swift use and sturdy enough for stage combat and live-action roleplay. The back includes reinforced leather straps, for a secure and comfortable grip during extended use whether you’re training or performing.
Historically, the circle shield, sometimes called a rodelo shield or rodelas, was favored by duelists, infantrymen, and knights across Europe from the early medieval period through the Renaissance. Its shape made it suitable for quick defensive movements, deflection, and even offensive striking in close-combat. The Rodella or rodelo style in particular was commonly paired with short swords, especially in Italy and Spain, where brass accents meant wealth.
This is handforged therefore slight variations in polish, rivet alignment, or finish are natural.
