Description

Designed for training and stage performance, this wooden Wooden gladius sword is made from durable steam beechwood and has the look of the iconic Roman short sword. Lightweight, well-balanced and smooth, it gives a safe and historically accurate option for drills, choreography, and beginner practice. The natural finish preserves the wood’s authentic texture, making it ideal for props, reenactors and educational purposes.

Inspired by Ancient Roman Training Traditions: In ancient Rome, new recruits and gladiators trained not with sharpened steel but with wooden versions called the Roman Rudis. This practice tool acted like the handling of a real  Wooden Roman training sword, allowing soldiers to build strength and technique without the risk of serious injury. The rudis also held symbolic importance, elite gladiators could be awarded a finely made wooden sword as a mark of freedom and honor.

Our wooden roman training sword has the same purposeful design: a square pommel for secure grip, a sturdy guard, and a straight blade for stance, footwork, and basic combat drills.

Durable Steam Beechwood: Steam beechwood is highly valued for training weapons due to its density, impact resistance and grain. It withstands repeated handling, remains smooth and is easy to move during practice.

Perfect for Practice & Reenactment: Whether you are playing a roman military life, using historical props or teaching beginner swordplay, this wooden gladius is a practical and authentic tool. Its balanced feel mimics the handling of a traditional Wooden roman Gladius.
