Description
This viking beer tankard is made from ethically sourced genuine ox horn and shaped into a mug with a comfortable handle. The mug is polished by hand for a smooth surface both inside and outside, the interior also has a food safe coating so that it can be used for your beverages and drinks.
Horn was commonly used in Viking and Medieval times for drinking vessels and cutlery items because it was available easily. It was also easy to mould and shape and was lightweight so could be used in daily life. This tankard is a modern homage to that tradition.
Because horn is a natural material, each tankard has its own grain patterns and colors. These natural markings are shaped by nature itself, so no pieces can ever look the same. This uniqueness is what made horn vessels valued in the past and continues to make them special even now.
The curved handle gives a secure grip, so it is comfortable to hold during celebrations. This viking beer tankard can be used for cold or room-temperature drinks, like mead, ale, beer, cider and similar beverages. It works well as a horn mug, a drinking horn tankard, or in viking drinking horn or norse drinking horn tradition.
Hot beverages should not be used in this tankard as heat can soften the natural horn and damage its surface which causes cracking or warping. For this reason, the tankard is designed strictly for cold and room-temperature drinks only.
