Description
Step into the legacy of the Norse warriors with this Viking Spectacle Helmet, a design inspired by 10th-century discoveries from Norway and Eastern Europe. Featuring its signature “spectacle” eye guard, this helmet offered excellent facial protection while maintaining clear vision, a clever mix of strength and practicality favored by Viking elites.
Hand-crafted from 18-gauge mild steel, it comes with a butted chainmail camail made from 10 mm, 16-gauge steel rings that shield the neck and shoulders without limiting movement. Inside, a genuine leather liner provides comfort and stability, even during extended wear or combat.
With an inner circumference of about 68 cm and a total weight of 1.6 kg, the helmet ensures a secure, balanced fit for most adult warriors.
Known as the Gjermundbu-style helmet, this type takes its name from the only complete Viking helmet ever found—unearthed in a 10th-century burial mound in Norway. Its combined eye and nose guard set a new standard for protection and became a lasting emblem of Norse craftsmanship and status.
These helmets were often worn with a mail coif or camail, offering layered defense that reflected both the artistry and practicality of early medieval armor.
