Description
This kettle hat is a faithful recreation of one of the most practical helmets in medieval Europe. Forged from 18-gauge mild steel, its signature wide, down-sloping brim protected soldiers from arrows, stones, and other projectiles—making it a trusted choice for infantry, crossbowmen, and longbow archers.
Originating in the 12th century and peaking in use during the 14th and 15th centuries, the open-face design provided excellent visibility and ventilation, while the brim doubled as shade and rain protection during long campaigns.
Inside, a stitched leather suspension liner ensures comfort and even weight distribution. The adjustable leather chin strap keeps the helmet secure in active movement, and the polished steel exterior reflects the rugged, functional aesthetic of original museum pieces. Whether worn in historical settings, showcased in a collection, or used for educational demonstrations, this war hat captures the enduring utility of the medieval soldier’s armour.
