Round Ring Chainmail Leggings Chausses Hoses, Dome Riveted, ID 10 mm, Mild Steel
279.99$
These mail chausses/hoses are directly inspired by the type of protection worn by the knights and some sergeants in the 12th and 13th centuries. They first appear on the Bayeux Tapestry in 1066, worn by William ‘The Conquerer’. By that time it was a luxury and that’s not a hazard if only Duke William himself was wearing those chainmail hoses and so many of the other Norman knights were not. By the opening of the 12 and 13 centuries, it was becoming standard equipment of a medieval knight perfectly completing the full-sleeves, knee-length hauberk making the knight almost invulnerable.
It is intricately HANDMADE from butted 16 gauge mild steel rings, each with a diameter of approximately 10 mm. Being dome riveted makes it sturdy, reliable, and popular in medieval evocation, Renaissance fairs, and other medieval events.
