14th Century Light Roundel Spaulders with Leather Cut Edges

49.99$

These late medieval rondel spaulders protect the shoulders well when worn by anchoring them onto an arming garment, gambeson, chainmail shirt, gorget, or breastplate by fastening them into position with sturdy leather strings or arming points. They are typical of the transitional period during which armourers were trying to reinforce the chainmail with more and more individual pieces of plate armour.

These rondels are HANDCRAFTED from sturdy 16 gauge MILD STEEL, edged with thick GENUINE leather, stoutly riveted onto the rounded Rondell plate to protect the armour worn beneath them. The total diameter of these light 14th-century spaulder is approx 21 cm, including the leather that protrudes around the circumference. THE PACKAGING INCLUDES TWO LEATHER CORDS. Easy to lace onto a gorget, a coat of plate or a gambeson. These come in one size that fits most.
